(both) Destined For Glory
November 25th 2011 09:24
The John Moore trained Destined For Glory produced an upset to win the G2 Cathay Pacific Jockey Club Mile ahead of odds-on favourite Ambitious Dragon. There was just a nose and 1/100th of a second between the two horses on the line, with Australian jockey Tim Clark saving ground on Destined For Glory throughout before finding gaps between runners in the straight to grab the favourite in the last stride. Maxime Guyon had Ambitious Dragon no closer than 3-wide throughout and his was a huge effort in defeat.
In the shadows of the post it still looks like Ambitious Dragon would hold on - but Tim Clarke has a last look across as he just gets up in the last stride.

Destined For Glory was trained previously in Ireland by GM Lyons and known as Wade Giles. He was twice second placed at G3 in Ireland - once behind (now) fellow Hong Kong trained Pure Champion, and on another occasion he was narrowly defeated by Gitano Hernando.
