Hot Spin

Hot Spin was responsible for the most impressive effort at Caulfield on Saturday (based on the data from SPEEDRATINGS) when winning the Wellington RC Inglis Bonus over 1000 metres.

Trained by the dynamic partnership of Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Hot Spin is a son of Spinning World who has improved considerably from his first campaign - one in which he did show much promise, though without the proof of a win. It has been the advent of being gelded, and then the addition of blinkers, that have really improved this horse. Hot Spin had been a horse with a (too) relaxed attitude, but the combination of ‘cut and cover’ seems to have primed him for peak performances come race day.
Hot Spin defeated the debutants Unique Quality (Peter Mertens), who led for most of the trip, and Infinite Energy (Luke Nolen), who came from the rear of the field.
