Lester Piggott in Hong Kong
March 17th 2011 08:48
Photographic portraits of jockeys - with or without horse - are an important chronicle and capture of horseracing.
In a very early article for RacingWrite I wrote about the time when I photographed Lester Piggott when he was riding in Australia:
Piggott and the Gunpowder Plot
Following on from the portraits of Chantal Sutherland (in Hong Kong) - and my mention of Lester Piggot - Woody Leung found his own 'candid' portraits of a retired Lester Piggott.
Lester looks 'dapper' and still race-riding fit, although the 'long fellow' who stands at 1.73 cm tall (5 feet 8 inches) is probably glad that he no longer needs to subject his body to extremes to keep his weight down low enough to ride.
These photos were taken in Hong Kong in 2010 when Lester appears to be in attendance as a guest of successful trainer Tony Millard.
