Price is right?

With the Melbourne Autumn carnival about to step up a gear this weekend, successful Caulfield trainer Mick Price gave an early indication how his stable stars are progressing before they step out for their Autumn campaigns.

Interviewed on Melbourne radio 927 this week he went through the prospects of many of these, with Light Fantastic being the first to step out under lights at Moonee Valley this coming Friday night.
I will be looking forward to the return of Heart Of Dreams in the Zeditave Stakes on Monday at Caulfield.
The following is a transcript from that radio program.
Light Fantastic: "He trialled well at Caulfield the other day, ran the quickest time of the morning. He let go the last 400 and won by four (lengths). He'll resume in the Norman Carlyon and he'll run well in that. I don't know which way we'll go after that. I'm sure he doesn't stay and I don't really think he runs a strong mile. We'll have to sit down and think about all that. He has put on weight, he's about 530kgs now and hasn't lost any weight this preparation."
Alamosa: "He's just a fantastic 1600 metre handicapper. He's going great and I'd love to run him in the Doncaster. He'll probably go first-up in the C.F.Orr Stakes, then the Futurity before he heads to Sydney. A week before the Doncaster he'll run in the Ajax Stakes, then the Doncaster."
Pompeii Ruler: "I haven't seem him since he wrenched his joint in the Spring, but they tell us it wasn't serious. He's working in the water walker now and will be back later in the autumn."
Heart Of Dreams (3YO): "Will be first-up in the Zeditave and head towards the Australian Guineas. Seems to be going very well and we're looking forward to what he can do this time."
Pre-Eminence (3YO): "You might remember he ran third in the VRC Derby after missing the start badly. He's a big raw-boned horse who looks to be a 2000 - 2400 metre horse, so that's the way we'll head. We're hoping he comes up to AJC Derby standard. I'm pretty happy with him."
Gallica (3YO): "She had a great Spring and I was thrilled I was able to put her in the spelling paddock after she won the Thousand Guineas, and she was saved from running in the longer races. She's going great and we think she'll stay this time. Probably go to the Vanity first-up and she may even run in the Australian Guineas before heading to Sydney with the Oaks in mind. She just looks great."
Lord Tavistock (3YO): "We had to put him back in the spelling paddock yesterday. I wasn't happy with him. He had a problem with his fetlocks - inflammation around the joints, and although it's not serious, it was best to just put him aside now."
