Think of Macau and we think of casinos, black jack, slot machines and roulette. Certainly, the gambling scene pervades the city, with a host of lavish casinos overshadowing the older architecture of this once Portuguese colony.
Macau was handed back to China in 1999 to become a Special Administrative Region similar to Hong Kong. Although all forms of gambling are forbidden in Mainland China, the peoples’ irrepressible love of gambling finds a perfect outlet in Macau; not just in the casinos but also at the racetrack.
