A series of Shocking photographs

A photograph can illustrate opposites.
A photograph may also pose similarities.
Neil Murray has captured the rising star Shocking in a series of photographs that fully illustrate why this son of Street Cry is creating so much interest in racing circles at present.
Mark Kavanagh trains two sons of Street Cry. The well established champion chestnut gelding Whobegotyou who boasts a series of Group Race victories - and the bay colt Shocking who is only now progressing through the classes and impressing all and sundry.
At present the sage owner of both Whobegotyou and Shocking is leaning towards paying a $13,750 late entry fee for the colt to contest the Queensland Derby. The heavy tracks may yet see Shocking sent to the spelling paddock to have a break before setting out on a Spring campaign.
Laurence Eales purchased Whobegotyou for $19,500 and Shocking for $45,000 at the 2007 yearling sales. Either very lucky, or extremely wise (the truth is probably a mixture of both).
Last Saturday at Caulfield Shocking produced a performance that would mimic his illustrious stablemate when winning the Caulfield Guineas last Spring. Both horses biding their time at the tail of the field before unleashing electrifying finishing bursts. They are horses of a different colour - but under the same silks they do share many winning similarities.
Neil Murray was at Caulfield on Saturday and captured these wonderful photographs of Shocking in a sequence that shows his brilliant performance and potential.
Photograph number1: Neil was positioned at the 100 metre pole and captured four horses stretched across the track at 150 metres from the finish. Neil’s concentration was on this group and he had not seen Shocking winding up out wider on the track. Horses in this shot from inside are: Spontaneous (Glenn Boss); Miles Above (Neville Wilson); Aiglon (Brendon Abdullah) and North East Smile (Jason Benbow).
Photograph number 2: But in a flash Shocking (Steven King) had swept into frame out wide and raced past the group of four.
Photograph number 3: shows Steven King now allowing only momentum to drive Shocking along an easy winner to the line.
Photograph number 4: The final photograph shows the powerful physique of Shocking as he cruises to the line untouched.
Neil also provided photographs in comparison of Whobegotyou winning the Group One Caulfield Guineas defeating Time Thief & Von Costa De Hero in 2008.
