The Jim Dandy Stakes is named after the horse that beat Triple Crown winner Gallant Fox in the 1930 edition of the Travers Stakes. Jim Dandy was 100-1 that day which earned him the honors of going down in history and having a race named after him.
The 2011 edition was won by Stay Thirsty (pictured below) and a complete report of this race, and the Grade 1 Diana Stakes, is on Thoroughbreds Worldwide. The article is by Vicki L Vinson, and the photography by Sue Rosenbach.
