The Glorious Goodwood carnival of racing begins next week in England on the engaging Goodwood course.

Henrythenavigator returns to contest the Sussex Stakes next Wednesday at Glorious Goodwood and is a short priced (1/2) favourite.
And typically for Ballydoyle they will be represented with multiple runners with Aidan O'Brien O'Brien entering five horses for the Sussex Stakes.
Favourites and 3 year olds have an excellent record in this Group One open event over 1 mile. Henrythenavigator has proven time and time again that he is the best 3 year old miler in Great Britain (and most likely beyond), but this time he will be tested for the first time against older horses. Of the nominated 11 for the Sussex Stakes, Aidan O'Brien has five, with a good chance that Astronomer Royal, US Ranger, Minneapolis and Windsor Palace may all start. Henrythenavigator should win and Minneapolis and Windsor Palace (in particular) are long odds and likely to act as pacemakers.
The record of 25 Group One wins in a season draws closer for O'Brien, but needs a kick along this coming week. Duke Of Marmalade must likely to set the ball rolling on Saturday when he runs a short priced favourite for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. If he can handle the increase in distance it will be O'Brien's 14th Group One win this season - with Henry to come on Wednesday at Goodwood.
In the other feature race O'Brien will present Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Halfway To Heaven in the Nassau Stakes.

Some of Aidan O'Brien's previous Sussex Stakes winners have a strong connection to Australia with Rock Of Gibraltar (in particular) and Giant's Causeway having an impact as shuttle sires on the local racing scene.
Below are the two victories in the Sussex Stakes by these horses. Giant's Causeway a great fighting performance; and Rock Of Gibraltar a win with contempt for his rivals.
