The American Club Challenge over 1000 metres was the feature race on the card last Wednesday at Happy Valley in Hong Kong. The David Hall trained Jun Dao, ridden superbly by Howard Cheng took the honours in the Cup.
Jun Dao had raced in New Zealand during 2009 under the name Sun Spur. From three races there the horse gained two wins and a second. Since coming to Hong Kong, however, Jun Dao has had nine starts without a win, that is until the Happy Valley breakthrough.
Howard Cheng quickly booted The Rusty Spur (USA) - Vixsun by Desert Sun (GB) five year old bay gelding to the front and stayed there to hold on and win by a neck.
