Zenyatta Appreciation Day
December 9th 2010 08:11
Before retiring to Lane’s End Farm to begin her new life as a broodmare, Zenyatta completed a farewell tour the equal of any retiring diva or olympic champion.
At Zenyatta appreciation Day at Hollywood Park, Zenyatta was greeted by an adoring crowd of 11,216 - far in excess of a Sunday crowd at the venue in usual circumstances.
Cheryl Ann Quigley was there to greet the champion mare - surely soon to be Horse of the Year - and take a series of classic photographs. Go to her website (link above) to see the entire day in photographs.
Later, in freezing weather, over 1500 fans turned out in Lexington, Kentucky, at the Keeneland Racetrack sales pavilion to see Zenyatta before she made her way to her new home at Lanes End Farm in nearby Versailles, Kentucky.
